Accepting the Nudge

We’ve all been there. Nice, hot cup of fresh coffee in hand, we walk across a tile floor, barefoot, only to stub our toe on a bit of something sticking out of nowhere – Yow! (Or something worse – like sh…, f…, damn!) And our coffee? If we’re lucky it just sloshes about in the cup – or – if we’re not lucky, it goes flying and ends up on the ceiling! Now what??? Is the Nudge trying to tell us something?

Or, we plan a day visiting the park for a bit of sunshine and fresh air. But something seems to be urging us to check on the weather forecast… so we do, and sure enough, a flash rain storm is headed our way! Is an umbrella in order or should we just skip the park and set it aside for another day? Maybe the Nudge knows something we don’t.

Our personal Nudge can be extremely helpful. It can warn us of danger around the corner, it can get us to call a friend we haven’t spoken with for a while – just to check in. It can let us know we are not as happy as we would like to be and maybe it’s time to think about a change.

So really, that’s the issue, isn’t it? Should we accept the Nudge when it comes or just ignore it? And who knows… maybe this short article is your Nudge for today!
