Rising Above the Noise

Hello! So happy to “meet” you. I hope you are having a good day and that I can add to it!

This is the beginning of a series – I hope. I say that because my history is one of broken promises (mostly to myself) when it comes to writing. It’s okay because I enjoy starting projects. But then I lose interest and never finish them (I know, Frank – never say never – ha ha). I am hoping that will change, but I can’t really promise. So, that being said – what is this series to be about?

Quite simply, this series is about all of the noise we experience in modern society and possible ways to get ahold of the noise in our personal lives and tamp it down a bit. Not an easy task, right? If you’ve been trying, I applaud you. Many of us just feel overwhelmed so much of the time. We can’t keep up with it all and then we feel guilty for not “paying attention” to the world and all the goings on. But I’m here to tell you that you’re not “wrong” – life has become so much more complicated than at any time in history that the overwhelmed feeling you have is perfectly normal. Human beings have limits and it’s about time we had a chat about that.

This series will cover a number of related ideas… things like “Am I Going Crazy?” – “Where’s All the Noise Coming From, Anyway?” – “Fact or Opinion?” – “Being Manipulated” – “The Power of Choice” and lots of others. If there’s one thing I have, it’s ideas! After 3/4 of a Century on this Earth, and having followed my bliss and curiosity, there’s a lot of “data” stuffed in my mind. Maybe it’s time I shared some of it with others.

Some Rules:

There will be very few “facts” in this series – this is an opinion piece, as are most blogs.

I have done my best, when appropriate, to verify any “facts” I quote and I may even include the reference. But mostly, this is based on my own experience and study… just so you know.

If you think differently – that’s okay. In fact, I would not mind hearing what you have to say about any of this. We’re all unique individuals with our own ideas and that’s one of the things that makes life interesting. Most folks do not respond to blogs, so it’s not a requirement. But it’s there in case you want to engage.

If I think of any more rules, I will let you know…
